We know, we know: Who could forget *that* boat scene?
But after combing through the Game of Thrones season seven scripts, the love story between Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow is much more than just a few stolen glances and a passionate night on the high seas. Per Vanity Fair, who recently read through the scripts that are on display at the Writers Guild of America West library, there’s a helluva a lot more juicy deets hidden between the lines.
For one, it was basically love at first sight when the two finally met on Dragonstone. The season seven script reads: “Jon can’t help but stare at Dany, though. He had no idea she’d look like that. She’s cute as a bug!” Cute! The King of the North is crushin’ hard.
Khaleesi is a little more skeptical: “Maybe he’s not as dumb as he looks.” Ha! Got him.
And then there’s this gem, once the two are on the boat after (cute as a bug) Dany loses Viserion to the White Walkers and they both almost die. “She opens her mouth to speak but only tears come—the tears she has held at bay until now, because people were watching, and she still had hope. Here with Jon and only Jon, she lets go of hope and poise, and weeps.”
It’s at this point that smarter-than-he-looks Jon realizes he’s head over heels. “Jon has truly never seen a girl like this before. Her beauty, her strength, her grief and the pain it makes him feel…they all push him to the realization that he loves her.”
We guess the heart wants what it…aunts. (Sorry, had to.)
