Behold: ‘The Crown’ Season 2 Trailer and First-Look Photos Make Their Royal Debut
Break out your finest tiara and (faux) fur cape because the new season two trailer and photos for The Crown are here, and they're glorious.
The freshman season of Netflix’s royal drama raked in an astounding 13 Emmy nominations and tons of critical acclaim for its stunning portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II’s (Claire Foy) ascent to the throne. The new follow-up season takes place during the years 1956 to 1964, a time of great personal and public turmoil in Queen Lilibet's career. The trailer opens at Buckingham Palace as we hear the crisp sound of the Queen's English accent as she discusses humiliating rumors that are circulating around the throne. Prince Philip appears to be off gallivanting in faraway lands while his beloved deals with not only the loss of her third prime minister in ten years but the dawn of a new era—the ’60s.
In season two, Elizabeth grows more confident and comfortable with being a leader (she is the world's longest-standing monarch, after all) and gives birth to princes Andrew and Edward. It also appears that Princess Margaret has a naughty affair, and Prince Philip is in the dog house yet again. Uh-oh.
While we'll have to wait until December 8 to witness the juicy drama in store for The Crown's second season, at least we have these first-look photos to tide us over.
