Coke Zero Is Over, and People Are Completely Freaking Out
Coke Zero fans, you might want to take a seat (and a few deep breaths).
Coca-Cola has officially announced that it’s ditching the beloved diet drink (you know, the hip, calorie-free sibling to Diet Coke that tastes sorta like the real thing) and devoted sippers are devastated. We knew Coke Zero was popular, but apparently love for the sugarless beverage runs deep, as evidenced by the Twittersphere blowup:
Keep Coke Zero. Add new flavors, fine. But keep Coke Zero. Nothing else matters today.— STU BURGUIERE (@WorldOfStu) July 26, 2017
Well, at least I've still got my delicious Coke Zero. **looks at Twitter** pic.twitter.com/zEOQw97hml— Rex Huppke (@RexHuppke) July 26, 2017
Leave my Coke Zero alone, please.— MC Ham (@Octotron) July 27, 2017
But friends, don’t be too brokenhearted. The brand might be nixing the beverage, but they’re set to replace it with—wait for it—a better version. The new Coke Zero Sugar (already launched in some international markets) will, according to Coca-Cola, taste even closer to the full-sugar version.
We won’t knock it until we try it. And if you just can’t take the news, there’s always sweet, sweet Diet Coke.
