Kate’s Secrets Will Be Exposed in ‘This Is Us’ Season 5, According to Chrissy Metz

Chrissy Metz just confirmed Kate Pearson’s story line is only beginning on This Is Us, so prepare for yet another tearjerker season.

In a recent interview with People Now, the 39-year-old actress confessed that season five of This Is Us will further explore Kate’s past. “There is a story, a through line, coming down the pike about some experiences that shaped Kate as a woman, as an adult, that we haven’t seen yet,” she said.

Metz is likely referring to season four, which introduced Kate’s first serious boyfriend, Marc (Austin Abrams), who isn’t the best influence. The actress didn’t reveal any more details about what’s to come, but it must be pretty emotional, since series creator Dan Fogelman ran the idea by Metz first.

“I remember Dan giving me a call, and he’s like, ‘How do you feel about this? Are you going to be able to tackle this? How are you going to feel about it?’ I’m like, ‘No let’s do it. I think it’s super important,’” she continued. “While I won’t give away what it is exactly, it’s something that we haven’t seen, and we had no idea that Kate went through.”

We can think of a million ways this can go. Does Kate give Marc another chance? Is she involved in another house fire? Or something much worse?

Guess we’ll have to wait until This Is Us season five premieres on NBC.
