After a long seven-year hiatus, Cher is officially returning to the big screen and joining Meryl Streep in the Mamma Mia! sequel, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.
Over the weekend, Cher took to Twitter to tease her new role. It all began when she cryptically posted the lyrics to ABBA’s “Fernando” and wrote, “Just went through two dance numbers. Everyone’s Great.” The “Believe” singer eventually confirmed the news later that day by sharing a photo of fabulous silver star-print boots (in true ABBA fashion) with a simple kiss emoji caption.
No further details about Cher’s role have been released, but we do know she’ll join Mamma Mia! veterans Streep, Colin Firth, Julie Walters, Christine Baranski, Amanda Seyfried, Dominic Cooper, Pierce Brosnan and Stellan Skarsgard.
This will be Cher’s first big-screen role since she starred in Burlesque with Christina Aguilera in 2010, and we seriously can’t wait for Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again to hit theaters on July 20, 2018.
