Camilla Parker Bowles Shakes Hands with a...Puppet? While Visiting the National Theatre

Camilla Parker Bowles recently became the Royal Patron of the National Theatre, taking over the patronage from Meghan Markle after she and Prince Harry stepped down from their senior positions as royals. And with her new title, the Duchess of Cornwall had quite the interesting encounter.

Bowles made her first trip to the theater earlier this week, where she got an exclusive look into everything that goes on behind the scenes. Her visit was documented on the Clarence House Instagram account, where they detailed the mission of the playhouse: “Since 1963, the National Theatre has shared unforgettable stories with audiences across the world, empowering artists and craftspeople, investing in talent, and developing new productions with a range of theatre companies,” the caption read.

However, within the slideshow of photos from the duchess's visit, we couldn't get over the first pic, which showed Bowles shaking hands with a marionette puppet.

Following this intriguing shot, there was a video highlighting the duchess's time at the theater, where she got to chat with various performers and costume designers, check out the company's impressive candy collection and even smash a plate. At the end of the clip, we also see the interaction behind the attention-grabbing first image, where Bowles walks up to two marionettists and holds out her fingers to shake hands with the puppets they're controlling.

In the rest of the caption for the post, Clarence House described one of the National Theatre's latest projects, saying, “The @NationalTheatre’s ‘Public Acts’ initiative creates extraordinary acts of theatre and community. The programme creates ambitious new works, built on sustained partnerships with theatres and community organisations who share the vision of theatre as a force for change.”

We hope Camilla's future visits to the stage are just as silly.
