Camilla Parker Bowles Was the Surprise Guest in the Latest ‘James and the Giant Peach’ Read-Along for Charity

Camilla Parker Bowles's latest appearance was just peachy.

The Duchess of Cornwall was a surprise guest in today's episode of “James and the Giant Peach with Taika and Friends.” In the episode, Camilla, Lupita Nyong’o and Josh Gad joined Waititi as we find out exactly how James plans to save his insect friends as they try to escape from a school of sharks intent on eating the peach.

In case you missed it, the YouTube series, hosted by writer-director Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit), was set up by the Roald Dahl Story Company and aims to raise money for Partners in Health, a medical and social-justice organization fighting COVID-19.

In each episode, Waititi is joined by an impressive roster of stars, including Ryan Reynolds, Cate Blanchett, Mindy Kaling, Benedict Cumberbatch, Billy Porter and more, as they each read a portion of the classic novel across 10 episodes. Each section will air exclusively on the Roald Dahl YouTube channel every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 1 p.m. ET (6 p.m. U.K. time).

Camilla isn't the only royal creating children's reading content during the pandemic. Last month, Sarah Ferguson launched “Storytime With Fergie and Friends” on her YouTube channel. In an introduction video, she explained that every day during the U.K. coronavirus lockdown, she’ll be reading a traditional children’s book for “all of the children out there who just need a little bit of magic.” A new video will go live at 4 p.m. every weekday in the U.K. (that’s 11 a.m. EST), with a longer story time every Saturday.

The more content to keep kids busy, the better.
