Camilla Parker Bowles Inherits Major New Role from the Queen

While Queen Elizabeth recently announced that she wishes Camilla Parker Bowles to be Queen Consort when Prince Charles takes the throne, it looks as if Her Royal Majesty is bestowing another title upon the duchess in the meantime.

It was just revealed that Parker Bowles will now be the Royal Patron of the National Theatre. The news was shared in a post on the Clarence House Instagram account, where they said, “Today it has been announced that The Duchess of Cornwall, a long-standing supporter for the arts and a devoted fan of theatre, is the new Royal Patron of the @NationalTheatre. The patronage is passed to The Duchess from Her Majesty The Queen.”

They went on to explain the aim of the National Theatre, adding, “The National Theatre's mission is to make world-class theatre, for everyone. Through sharing stories with audiences both on stage and virtually, it strives to be accessible, inclusive and sustainable.”

This is just the latest in a string of new titles that have been given to the Duchess of Cornwall. Last year alone, the duchess became Patron of Silver Stories (a program that pairs young students with elderly individuals in isolation to speak on the telephone and read them stories) as well as the Royal Patron of HorseBack U.K., a leading organization in mental health recovery. Meanwhile, she also became Patron of the British Forces Broadcasting Service, Patron of The Mirabel Centre and more.

Not to mention, Parker Bowles has been keeping busy by continuing her book club, The Reading Room, which just recently launched a website that included book recommendations from friends and family members, like Kate Middleton.
