Camilla Parker Bowles Gets Candid About Her Childhood Hobby: ‘I Used to Do It Everywhere’

Camilla Parker Bowles is opening up for the first time about her favorite childhood hobby: drawing horses.

Last week, the Duchess of Cornwall, 73, sat down for a virtual conversation with Charlie Mackesy, who is the author of the best-selling children’s book The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse. During the interview, Bowles discussed her newest venture, The Reading Room, which is a virtual book club.

The royal also shared details about her childhood hobby, which included drawing pictures of horses.

“I’ve read [The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse] so many times,” she told Mackesy. “You know, it’s an easy read, but it’s a deep read at the same time. And I just, I love, I just love your drawings. I’ve spent my whole life as a child doodling horses.”

Bowles added, “I used to do it everywhere, but mine unfortunately, haven’t turned out like yours.”

The royal has been using this time of social distancing to expand her reading list. Although it’s prepared her for The Reading Room, Bowles admitted that she should have used the extra downtime to perfect her drawing skills. “Probably in these lockdowns, I should have just sat down and, and tried to do a lot more drawing, and I just actually immersed myself into books,” she continued.

The real question is: Did Bowles keep any of her childhood drawings?
