You Can Now Buy Social Media Shout-outs from Celebrities and We're Not Sure How We Feel About It

So, your bestie’s birthday is coming up and you want to give her something totally unique. How about a personalized video message from her favorite Real Housewife (Vicki, duh)?

Introducing Chicago-based start-up Cameo, an online service that allows you to buy shout-outs from famous people to share with friends and family for special occasions.

The company has a roster of over 2,000 athletes, comedians and personalities to choose from, including actress Bella Thorne, former basketball player Dennis Rodman, blogger Perez Hilton and half the cast of Real Housewives.

Celebrities set their own price per message, which can range from $20 to over $1,000. (Um, what?)

And according to the site, there are no set rules about what you can and cannot request “as long as the request is appropriate.”

Now, we're not entirely convinced that this is a good use of our hard-earned money. But is that going to stop us requesting Lance Bass to say "Bye, bye, bye" to our friend’s last year? Nope.
