People Are Putting Broccoli in Coffee, and We Have So Many Questions

Finding it difficult to get your five-a-day? Well, some bonkers researchers from Australia may have solved your problems by inventing a broccoli powder that you’re supposed to put in your morning latte (yes, really.)

Australia’s national science agency, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation, developed the nutrient-rich powder, and it’s currently being served at Common Folk Café in Melbourne, Australia.

Um, we’re not opposed to shaking up our hot drinks game (see exhibit A. And B. And C.), but this seems a little too out there.

And—unsurprisingly—it tastes terrible. Josh Taylor, a journalist for Buzzfeed Australia, posted his verdict on Twitter: “I just tried broccoli coffee for a BuzzFeed video and can confirm it tastes awful.”

Yep, we’ll just stick to the steamed stuff, thanks.
