Netflix Is Granting Queen Charlotte Her Very Own ‘Bridgerton’ Spin-Off

Bridgerton fans now have more to look forward to than just season two.

Today, Netflix revealed that Bridgerton is getting an all-new spin-off series. Unlike the original show, which focuses on the Bridgerton family (duh), the upcoming project will dive into the life of Queen Charlotte. Not only will it unveil details about her origin story, but it will also offer a never-before-seen glimpse into her daily routine.

Netflix announced the exciting news on its official Twitter account, writing, “All Hail The Queen! Thrilled to announce we’re expanding the Bridgerton universe with a limited series that will tell Queen Charlotte’s origin story—the series will also feature young Violet Bridgerton and young Lady Danbury.”

Unfortunately, the streaming service didn’t reveal any details about the spin-off’s cast. However, we expect Golda Rosheuvel to reprise her role as Queen Charlotte (unless Netflix announces otherwise). The limited series will be written by Shonda Rhimes (Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal). She’ll also serve as an executive producer alongside Betsy Beers (Gilded Lilys) and Tom Verica (How to Get Away with Murder).

The news comes just one month after Netflix renewed Bridgerton for season three and four. We weren’t surprised by the news, since the series was one of the streamer’s most popular titles for months. What did surprise us was the confirmation that Regé-Jean Page will not reprise his role as Simon Bassett (AKA the Duke of Hastings) in Bridgerton season two.

Best. News. Ever.
