Nooo! ‘Black-ish’ Will Be Ending with Season 8

Sorry Black-ish fans. It looks like we'll be saying farewell to the Johnson family very soon.

It was announced on the Black-ish Instagram account that the show's upcoming eighth season will also be its last. The news was shared in a post from ABC that said, "We are humbled to have been the home of 'black-ish,' a show that has given voice to the Black experience through humor and heart. We look forward to celebrating the series and its cultural impact with the upcoming season 7 finale, and its eighth and final season."

Along with the announcement, the post included a teaser for the final season featuring some commentary from the cast. Watch below.

"When we launched, I didn't know that our show was gonna have the impact that it had," said actress Tracee Ellis Ross, whose performance as Rainbow Johnson has earned her four Emmy noms as well as four consecutive wins at the NAACP Image Awards.

Laurence Fishburne, who plays Earl "Pops" Johnson, added: "The thing that makes the Black-ish brand of comedy so universal is its family. It's always a little messy." Meanwhile, Anthony Anderson, who stars as Dre, addressed the Black-ish fanbase in the video, saying, "Whoever's watching this, thank you all for being interested in the stories that we wanted to tell. I'm looking forward to how we're going to wrap up this series."

Black-ish was created by Kenya Barris and debuted on ABC back in the fall of 2014. So far, the series has aired a total of 160 episodes and received numerous accolades and critical acclaim along the way. We'll be very sad to see it go.
