The Writer of ‘Bird Box’ Just Landed a New Netflix Gig (with a ‘Stranger Things’ Executive Producer!)

What do you get with you pair the writer of Bird Box with the executive producer of Stranger Things? Something magical.

Eric Heisserer, the scribe behind the hit Netflix film, and Stranger Things’ Shawn Levy are teaming up to adapt Leigh Bardugo’s popular Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows fantasy novels for the ’Flix.

Heisserer will serve as creator, writer, producer and showrunner of the series, with Levy, Bardugo and Divergent’s Pouya Shahbazian acting as executive producers.

The eight-episode series will bring together characters from both Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows’s overlapping “Grishaverse” (aka universe). The story follows a young soldier who lives in a world cloaked in perpetual darkness and plagued by flesh-eating creatures. When she realizes she has a power that can return her country to safety, she’s eager to hone it, but nefarious forces will stop at nothing to see her fail.

No production date or casting attachments have been announced, but it might be a good time to crack open the books. Just saying.

Hear Me Out The Real Star of ‘Bird Box’ Is Totally BD Wong
