We were over the moon when HBO announced its plans to get the Big Little Lies crew back together for another season. But now...we have to wait. Ugh. So if you’re like us and feeling the BLL season two hunger pangs, then whet your palate with these details about the show’s return. (Psst: season two started filming last month.)

Who’s returning to Monterey?

Lucky for us, the gang’s all coming back. In addition to the three core cast members—Reese Witherspoon (Madeline), Nicole Kidman (Celeste) and Shailene Woodley (Jane)—Zoë Kravitz (Bonnie), Laura Dern (Renata), Adam Scott (Ed), James Tupper (Nathan), Jeff Nordling (Gordon), Iain Armitage (Ziggy) and Kathryn Newton (Abigail) will return. Even though Alexander Skarsgärd’s character, Perry, is dead (good riddance), the actor is also expected to be involved in some way.

And who’s new to the area?

The goddess among us, Meryl “Queen” Streep is joining the cast along with Douglas Smith (Big Love, Vinyl), who plays Jane’s coworker. Crystal R. Fox (The Haves and the Have Nots) is also new to the cast and plays Elizabeth Howard, Bonnie’s zen AF mother.

So, what’s the story?

The show’s sophomore season will pick up where season one left off—ya know, with Bonnie pushing Perry to his death. Well, now Perry’s mother Mary Louise (Streep) shows up to Monterey in search of answers. In addition to the murder mystery, the show will explore the impact of big and little lies (but of course), the bond of friendship and the tax (and reward) marriage and parenthood can have.

When does ‘Big Little Lies’ season 2 premiere?

The show’s second season will drop at some point in 2019. Fingers crossed it arrives sooner rather than later.
