Apatow explained that he was at a post On the Run tour concert party when Jay-Z walked right up to him and said, “Oh, my God, Knocked Up! That scene where your wife goes ‘Doorman, doorman, doorman!’ That’s my favorite scene of all time.” (Mental note to bring up Knocked Up if we ever run into the 49-year-old rapper.)
But it didn’t stop there. Jay-Z asked his entourage to verify that he and Beyoncé had watched the movie just last week. As host Conan O’Brien pointed out, Jay-Z’s hype man became Apatow’s hype man. Obviously Apatow felt like “the coolest guy in the room.”
Then, inconceivably, things got even better. Jay-Z asked that Apatow not leave until his 37-year-old wife arrived because she’d be “mad” if she missed the opportunity to meet him and his wife, Leslie Mann. Sure enough, when Yoncé arrived she was just as excited as her husband and even gave Mann a hug. Apatow was starting to have dreams of private yacht trips with the Carters and their friends the Obamas…until director Jon Favreau pulled Bey aside and ruined their moment.
So there you have it. Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s favorite movie is Knocked Up and Judd Apatow now hates Jon Favreau. The more you know…
