‘Bachelorette’ Season 13 Finale Recap: Decisions, Decisions, Decisions
Warning: Spoilers ahead!
In the season 13 finale of The Bachelorette, Rachel Lindsay's journey to find love came to an emotional and engaging end.
Chris Harrison opens the show by announcing tonight’s final episode will be unlike any other Bachelorette ending in the past. Because this time, Lindsay is joining Harrison for the live taping of the show, which means she’s going to make commentary, provide insight and walk us through every memorable moment that led to her happily ever after.
The finale resumes right where episode nine left us anxiously hanging. Peter starts off the episode on an uncomfortable foot, reiterating his hesitancy to get down on one knee and commit to Lindsay. Holding back her tears, Lindsay admits she wasn’t ready to hear his reluctance and feels he should spend more time reevaluating his feelings to come to terms with the situation. Right on cue, Lindsay presents him with the Fantasy Suite date card. Peter (to no surprise) accepts the overnight offer and whisks her away to (hopefully) overcome his doubts.
The next day, Lindsay takes Bryan horseback riding to explore the gorgeous vineyards of Rioja, Spain. After they arrive at a gazebo-enclosed picnic, the camera cuts to a conversation between the producers and Lindsay where she admits that Peter’s date is still weighing heavily on her and she can’t seem to focus on her time with Bryan.
Later that night, Bryan questions Lindsay’s odd demeanor from earlier in the day and asks if something's bothering her. Lindsay reassures him that there is nothing he did or said that caused her to act that way and apologizes for not taking advantage of the little time they have left together. And with that, the couple heads off to the Fantasy Suite.
At the rose ceremony, Lindsay begins by telling the men she’s “more confused than ever” and proceeds to hand roses to Bryan and Peter. As she escorts Eric away from the men, she tells him that she does, in fact, love him, but she isn’t in love with him. Welp, there’s always paradise, Eric.
Next, it’s time for Bryan’s final one-on-one date. The couple stumbles upon an open field where they board a hot-air balloon and embark on a scenic bird’s-eye tour of Rioja. That night, Bryan gifts Lindsay with a homemade dictionary of English-to-Spanish translations of “must-know” terms—like husband, marriage and fiancé.
For Peter’s last hoorah, he and Lindsay head to a Spanish church. After receiving a history lesson from one of the priests, the couple sits down for a serious conversation. Peter opens up about his hesitations and says that marriage doesn’t scare him—but the thought of having multiple marriages does and he wants to be engaged only once in his life. Later on, Lindsay further presses Peter about his feelings. He admits he's in love with her, but he isn't confident enough in his feelings to know that he wants to spend the rest of his life with her. Ouch.
But wait, there's more... Peter starts to contradict himself and says that he could potentially get down on one knee. Lindsay challenges this new revelation and says she doesn't want him to make a decision he's going to regret later. Following a seriously awkward silence, Peter decides there's no point in moving forward because they can't seem to agree on where the relationship stands. And with that, Lindsay walks him out (but not before having a steamy make-out sesh) and says her final goodbye of season 13.
And then there was one...
The next day, Lindsay finally gets the happy ending she deserves and confesses her love to the final man standing: Bryan. Swoon. He immediately takes the hint and gets down on one knee to propose to her with—in true Bachelor fashion—a stunning diamond ring.
And with that, season 13 of The Bachelorette comes to a close. Congratulations to the happy couple!
