The Dreamboat

Season 22, episode five of The Bachelor takes place in sunny Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. When Luyendyk Jr. greets the women in their temporary abode, he invites Chelsea on the first one-on-one date of the evening.

This time, he’s taking her on a yacht (casual) so they can lounge around, drink Champagne and make really corny references to being with and on a “Dreamboat.” (Ahem, Chelsea, ahem.)

After cruising around on Jet Skis, Chelsea and Luyendyk Jr. sit down for dinner. When he prompts her to open up about past relationships, Chelsea discusses life as a single mother and reveals it changed her as a person.

Luyendyk Jr. eats it up (natch) and raves about her “strong” and “independent” nature before offering her a rose.

The Bowling Competition

Back at the mansion, a group date card arrives for Krystal, Becca K., Maquel, Marikh, Ashley, Jenna, Kendall, Bekah, Seinne, Jacqueline and Lauren B., which means Tia is the lucky recipient of the final one-on-one date.

When the ladies arrive at a bowling alley, Luyendyk Jr. explains that they are breaking off into two teams for a friendly competition. The catch? Only the winning team is invited to the after-party. Let the games begin.

While it was a close game, Bekah’s constant gutter balls didn’t help the black-and-pink team’s score, so the blue team takes home the “W.”

But not so fast. Luyendyk Jr. decides to invite the losing team anyway, and Krystal is not having it.

Krystal’s ‘Issues’

Later on, Krystal is super upset about the group date and refuses to go to the after-party. She tells them to explain her absence to Luyendyk Jr.

Of course, he runs to Krystal’s side when he hears about the issue. When she explains that she and her teammates were disrespected, Luyendyk Jr. is quick to point out that she’s running away from the problem. After a couple minutes of pointless banter, he excuses himself and says he’s “not happy about it.” Dun dun dun.

Meanwhile, Luyendyk Jr. tries to make the most of what’s left of the group date. As he pulls Becca K. aside, Krystal rejoins the group and tells the women her feelings are hurt. Suddenly, all hell breaks loose. Bekah reminds Krystal she’s being a hypocrite, considering she went back on her word about coming to the after-party, which is exactly why she’s mad at Luyendyk Jr. To no surprise, Krystal runs back to her room.

At long last, Luyendyk Jr. ends up giving the coveted group date rose to Lauren B.

The One-on-One Date

For the one-on-one date, Luyendyk Jr. takes Tia on an airboat tour of Sawgrass Recreation Park. After spotting a few crocodiles, the couple indulge in some fried frog legs before sitting down to admire the waterfront views.

Later that night, Tia opens up about her thoughts on the future and her timeline for getting married and having children. Suddenly, she drops the first “L” bomb of the season and says she’s falling in love with him.

Right on cue, Luyendyk Jr. gives her a rose.

The Rose Ceremony

At the cocktail party, the women pretty much cover all the bases when it comes to cannibal confessions (ahem, Kendall) and steamy make-out sessions. However, Krystal steals the show when she confronts the women about “attacking” her on the group date. She says she’s willing to talk to them one-on-one, and Kendall happily volunteers as the first interviewee.

Kendall explains she can’t get over the bad things Krystal said about Luyendyk Jr., while Krystal blames her behavior on being pissed off. But things take an awkward turn when Bekah steps in and simply asks, “Why are you here?” Krystal’s answer: Luyendyk Jr.

This prompts her to seek out the man of the season, and when she does, Krystal explains she’s a big believer in following through, which is why she reacted the way she did. Luyendyk Jr. doesn’t hold back when he tells her how disappointed he is and that it’s only going to get harder as the season progresses.

At the rose ceremony, Luyendyk Jr. shocks us all by giving Krystal a rose and sending home Marikh, Maquel and Ashley.

Next Monday can’t come soon enough.
