ABC Responds to Rumors that Peter Weber Chooses a ‘Bachelor’ Producer as the Winner

As The Bachelor season 24’s Peter Weber gets closer to hometown dates and the fantasy suite, a lot of fans are struck by the realization that there’s no clear frontrunner in his quest for love. (Sure, Madison looks good on paper, but will her resolve to save herself for marriage gel with Weber’s fantasy suite aspirations?) So, when a theory purporting that Weber, 28, ultimately ends up with Bachelor producer Julie LaPlaca started making the internet rounds, we were pretty intrigued. The evidence is decent, the story is fantastic and it would definitely make for good TV. The Bachelor powers-that-be have remained silent about the theory…until now.

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, ABC executive Rob Mills was asked about the Peter/Julie theory and he didn’t outright deny it. He didn’t confirm it either, but still.

Mills said, “Well, I hate to get in the way of a good rumor, so I’m not going to confirm or deny about whether he ends up with a producer! I don’t know how we’d ever top that though! But, it is crazy.” Agreed, Rob. This is absolutely bananas. As Chris Harrison might say, this has been “the most dramatic season yet.”

The ABC exec went on to tease, “What we’ve seen about the finale over the years is that the ‘finale’ is really on that night when the show goes live. There’s a lot of craziness, it’s a roller coaster, but I would say even now the roller coaster hasn’t ended, and it won’t end until after After the Final Rose.

Hm, interesting. Is it just us or did he also intone that the finale results are still up in the air? Regardless, it sounds like the drama from Weber’s season is so great it can’t be contained to a single season. That’s the kind of Bachelor content we deserve.

The Bachelor returns with a very dramatic hometowns episode on Monday, January 17, at 8 p.m. on ABC.
