Baby Sussex’s Debut Outfit Paid a Special Tribute to the Royal Family

Two days after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their first child, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex debuted their new son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, to the world. And while we could easily go on and on about Markle’s Givenchy dress, we’re more fixated on the newborn’s outfit and how it honors family tradition.

Earlier today, the proud parents had their first photocall with Baby Sussex outside The Portland Hospital in London. According to The Daily Mail reporter Rebecca English, the child was wrapped in a cashmere hat and baby blanket from G.H. Hurt and Son, a Nottingham-based company that “is something of a family tradition.” (And yes, both items are still in stock…for now.)

The blanket appears to be the brand’s white leaves and flowers baby shawl, which retails for $172. In addition to ivory, the item also comes in blue.

As for the cap, Baby Sussex is wearing a cashmere baby hat. The product includes matching mittens and comes in a set of three colors: pink, white and blue. (The bundle retails for $115.)

The royal family is no stranger to G.H. Hurt and Son. Not only did Prince William and Kate Middleton wrap all three of their children—Prince George (5), Princess Charlotte (4) and Prince Louis (1)—in the brand, but several members of the family—including Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince Harry—also donned the company’s handmade blankets when they were babies.

Guess Markle won’t be straying too far from royal tradition after all.
