Maisie Williams Said She Was ‘Broken’ After the Epic ‘Game of Thrones’ Final Battle Scene

Prepare to shed tears, Game of Thrones fans, because we have new updates about the final season and it’s looking devastatingly intense.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) gave insight into the epic season eight battle. It’s the first time most of the main characters will come face to face in one scene since the show’s debut in 2011. To top it off, it’s Arya’s first battle on the show…ever.

“I skip the battle every year, which is bizarre since Arya’s the one who’s been training the most,” she said. “This is my first taste of it. And I’ve been thrown in at the deep end.”

The battle episode, which is expected to take place at Winterfell and pits “uneasy collection of allies” against the Night Kings army, will be the longest consecutive battle sequence ever committed to film. It required 11 weeks of grueling night shoots, nearly 800 people working through the night and training for a year in advance.

Williams said nothing (not even a year of training) could prep her for how demanding the filming was. And, is it just us, or does the “never been in battle” thing give a solid reason for how she’s made it this far?

“It’s night after night, and again and again, and it just doesn’t stop,” she told EW. “You can’t get sick, and you have to look out for yourself because there’s so much to do that nobody else can do.”

“There are moments [where] you’re just broken as a human and just want to cry,” she continued.

*Shivers* We’re already crying just hearing about this scene. The final season premieres on April 14.
