Two days after it was revealed that The Bachelor’s Arie Luyendyk Jr. had proposed to Becca Kufrin and then dumped her a few weeks later (all on national TV) he’s claiming he had her best interests at heart. Rrright.
The newly engaged (to Lauren B.) Bachelor star visited Good Morning America today and told host Michael Strahan that he opted to film his devastating breakup with Becca so that he would look like the villain and she would be named the next Bachelorette. It worked, but we wouldn’t exactly call it a selfless move, Arie.
“I really wanted everyone to know that this was on me. This was my fault, and I felt like filming that would let people know that, that if there were any questions on the breakup, those would be squashed if they saw the breakup. And I wanted her that opportunity, honestly, I wanted her that opportunity to be the potential Bachelorette,” the heart-crushing race car driver said.
Hey, at least Becca is bound to meet a decent guy on season 14 of The Bachelorette. Our bet’s on Brian and his banjo.
