The city of Manchester, England, announced today that it plans to express its gratitude by recognizing Ariana Grande in the sweetest way—making her the first-ever honorary citizen of Manchester.
Sir Richard Leese, the leader of the Manchester City Council, spoke to The BBC about the city's plans to recognize Grande's efforts by granting her honorary citizenship.
“...I think many people would already consider her an honorary Mancunian and we would be delighted, if the council approves the proposal, to make it official,” Leese told The BBC.
The proposal will go before the council on July 12, and follows Grande's June 4 One Love Manchester benefit concert. Justin Bieber, Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus (among others) joined the singer to raise nearly $13 million for the victims of the May 22 attack.
