Apple is on your desk, in your purse and on your wrist. And now it wants to be a major contender for your TV time, too.
The tech giant is teaming up with Steven Spielberg’s film and TV production company, Amblin Entertainment, along with NBCUniversal, to produce a ten-episode reboot of the Twilight Zone-esque sci-fi series of the ’80s, Amazing Stories, according to The Wall Street Journal.
This isn’t Apple’s first foray into original TV programming. (Planet of the Apps, anyone?) It’s a huge move for the Fruit as it makes its way into the fictional TV series space, currently dominated by the likes of Hulu, Netflix and Amazon (not to mention Amazing Stories’ hefty estimated $5 million per episode price tag).
So are we headed into the next dimension? Apple certainly hopes so.
