Apple’s ‘Planet of the Apps’ Is a Digital ‘Shark Tank’ but with Really Attractive Judges

Planet of the Apps, Apple’s first foray into original programming, premiered last night and it’s basically a beautiful all-tech version of Shark Tank.

The all-star judging panel features Vaynermedia CEO Gary Vaynerchuk, actress and Goop founder Gwyneth Paltrow, actress and Honest Company founder Jessica Alba and Black Eyed Peas frontman and entrepreneur will.i.am.

Each episode follows a group of tech entrepreneur contestants as they prepare a 60-second “escalator pitch.” (Because who has the attention span for an elevator pitch anymore?) If the pitch goes well, the contestant and their app receive personalized guidance from the baller judges to push their concept along and ace their venture capital funding round. Winners of the show will also receive App Store promotion and some major cha-ching!

The first episode of Planet of the Apps is available for free on iTunes.

Gary Vaynerchuk is CEO of VaynerX, which owns PureWow.
