E.T. might have wanted to phone home, but it looks like Apple would rather you not. The company plans to release three new iPhone designs at a launch event next month, and at least one of the phones will no longer have a home button. Um, what?
Since the iPhone’s original release (or even the iPod, for that matter), the home button has allowed users to close an app or return to their home screen, so its removal is actually a pretty big deal.
The good news, however, is that in getting rid of the button, Apple was able to create a much larger screen without supersizing the phone itself, meaning you’ll be able to Netflix on the go without straining your eyes to squint at a small screen. Only time will tell what other features will or will not be a part of Apple’s new phones. Fingers crossed for wireless charging.
