Sixty-eight percent of American women wear a size 14 or above, according to a report by Racked. And yet many retailers continue to create clothes up to only a size 12. But Anthropologie can no longer be counted among them. As of March 15, Anthropologie will be extending its size range up to a size 26W (starting at 00P) and we couldn't be happier. If this isn't a good reason to treat ourselves to a shopping spree, what is?
Spread the Word: Anthropologie Is Finally Offering Extended Sizing
The brand’s plus-size collection is named A+nthropologie (to be read as APlus By Anthropologie) and will feature the romantic, eclectic, femme styles Anthro customers already know and love.
Per the new line’s landing page, “What to expect? Wardrobe heroes with all our quintessential charm and romance, now available in sizes 16W to 26W. There are dresses to dance in, pants to romance in, and skirts to shine in—all designed with careful consideration and love from our in-house team.”
As Anthropologie’s chief merchandising officer Anu Narayanan told Glamour, “We want to give every woman a wealth of options—and an experience that exceeds her expectations.”
In the spirit of inclusivity, Anthropologie is also extending its petites collection (so there can be more asymmetrical floral midi dresses for absolutely everyone, huzzah!).
The APlus by Anthropologie collection will launch on March 15 with 120 pieces from a variety of Anthro's in-house brands (like Maeve, Pilcro and The Letterpress) as well as external brands like DL1961 and Cloth & Stone, with prices ranging from $48 up through $260. As of now, the extended-size pieces will be available in-store at only ten physical locations (including New York City, Houston and Toronto), although they will also be available to shop online.
To be notified the moment these long-awaited pieces hit the site, you can sign up for Anthropologie's email list, and until then we suppose we'll just have to load up our shopping carts with all the bags, headbands and vintage earrings we hope to wear with our new inclusive Anthro wardrobe.
