You Need to See Anna Wintour’s Reaction to Lady Gaga’s Met Gala Arrival

We’ve seen meat dresses, egg arrivals and a whole lot of underboob. However, no one expected Lady Gaga to whip out three costume changes on the Met Gala red carpet, especially Anna Wintour, whose candid reaction was captured by the sea of photographers.

Last night, the A Star Is Born actress, 33, attended the annual Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Gaga wore an exaggerated Brandon Maxwell outfit that looked like one cohesive outfit, but it actually served as four different ensembles.

As the “Shallow” singer took off layer after layer, Wintour and her team watched from afar, amazed by the theatrics.

Much to our delight, New York Times writer Vanessa Friedman shared a photo of Wintour’s reaction on Twitter. The pic features the editor-in-chief ogling Gaga’s transformation and, uh, same.

The A Star Is Born alum arrived at the event wearing a long pink gown with a giant train. When her entourage surrounded her and flapped the material, Gaga proceeded to change into two different dresses—one pink, one black—until she donned nothing but lingerie.

The theme of this year’s Met Gala was “Camp: Notes on Fashion,” which is a tribute to Susan Sontag’s namesake essay. According to Sontag, “camp” is defined as “a sensibility that revels in artifice, stylization, theatricalization, irony, playfulness, and exaggeration rather than content.”

We’d say Gaga hit the nail on the head, and Wintour seems to agree.
