‘AHS’ Spinoff ‘American Horror Stories’ Officially Gets the Green Light at FX

Remember when Ryan Murphy posted a fan-created Zoom call of our AHS faves like Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters and "spilled the beans" about a spinoff series? Well, turns out he wasn’t trolling us after all—it’s really happening.

Yep, according to Deadline, FX has officially signed off on the spinoff, American Horror Stories, which is now featured on the company’s programming slate for next year. Per the outlet, the show is a weekly anthology series that will feature a different horror story in each hourlong episode.

Murphy (who created AHS, Glee and more) teased the series earlier this month on social media by sharing the fake video call, which sent fans into a complete frenzy.

He captioned the post, "'American Horror Story' cast zoom call...where we reminisced about the good times...the spin-off we’re doing called 'American Horror Stories' (one hour contained episodes)...when we will start filming the next season of the mothership...and other stuff I cannot print. It was so much fun and I’m glad we caught up. I miss everyone!”

Based on the comments, many fans weren’t buying the news (including us). However, many outlets did confirm the anthology series spinoff was indeed real. With the current halt of production on the tenth season of AHS due to COVID-19, it looks like the writer/producer had some extra time on his hands to come up with this latest idea. And since the hit franchise series was already renewed until season 13, we’re not surprised FX gave this one the green light.

Way to go Ryan, you officially fooled us.
