In the poster, we see a close-up of someone's mouth with razor-sharp fangs. And the mouth is open wide to reveal a tattooed tongue that reads "AHS 10." Hovering right above the mouth is someone's gloved hand, which holds a tattoo pen. And for the photo's location, Murphy cleverly added Provincetown, MA, hinting that this is where the series will take place.
Fans might recall one of Murphy's earliest clues, where he posted a pic of a fang-like teeth while confirming that season 10 was in the works. Alongside the pic, he wrote, "Looks like American Horror Story Season 10 is go for an October (fitting) production launch. Thanks to everyone who is working hard to assure a safe start for the cast and crew. And yes this is a clue."
Since AHS has already tackled vampires in the fifth season, "Hotel," many fans are now thinking that the creepy imagery could mean Mermaids and Sirens, who also have pointed teeth on the series. But of course, this isn't the only clue that they've gotten from Murphy.
In an interview with TheWrap, he described the upcoming season as "a weather-dependent show," and in May, he shared another cryptic photo of a seashore on Instagram, captioning the pic, "American Horror Story. Clue." With the water theme and sharp teeth imagery, fans are also theorizing that Jaws could be a huge part of season 10, but obviously, we won't know for sure until the new season premieres in 2021.
We'll be on the lookout for more clues in the meantime.
