Exciting news, American Horror Story fans! FX released the American Horror Story: Cult teaser trailer today, and co-creator Ryan Murphy's signature cinematic approach does not disappoint. Oh, did we mention Lena Dunham (Girls) will be joining the AHS family for its seventh season?

The first-look trailer doesn't give too much away, but it certainly has more than enough clowns to make us uncomfortable and convince us that this may be the freakiest season to date.

Neither Murphy nor FX has released any further details, but here’s what we know so far: The series was inspired by the 2016 presidential election (cue the fictional Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton nuances), and AHS veterans Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson will be joined by newcomer Billie Lourd (Scream Queens) in the new season.

Girls meets American Horror Story (and a bunch of terrifying clowns)...interesting, indeed. AHS: Cult premieres September 5 on FX.
