The 'American Horror Story: 1984' Premiere Date Was Just Revealed by FX (Along with Some Creepy Artwork, of Course)

It's baaaaack.

The ninth installment of Ryan Murphy's anthology series, American Horror Story, just got a premiere date from FX. The new season, called 1984, will debut on September 18. *Cue the blood-curdling screams.*

The news comes fresh off the release of the first teaser for the season, which series creator Murphy unveiled in April. Seemingly riffing off '80s slasher-style films like Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street, American Horror Story: 1984 will return in less than three months.

While most of the typical ensemble cast hasn't been confirmed, Murphy did say Emma Roberts would return for season nine, along with Olympian turned actor Gus Kenworthy.

Roberts's former boyfriend, Evan Peters, who has been a part of the anthology series since season one, revealed that he won’t be a part of this upcoming season.

FX's premiere date announcement was accompanied by a collage of images that are seriously hyping us up for the new AHS: One seems to be the new logo for the season, and one is a still from the teaser trailer that we mentioned earlier.

Just us, or is it weird that we already know this much ahead of the ninth installment?! Murphy is notoriously tight-lipped about his anthology, so these may all just be bread crumbs leading us down a false trail of AHS-fueled terror.

One thing we know for sure: September 18 can't come soon enough.
