Alex Rodriguez Has a New Career…as J.Lo’s VMA Roadie
Alex Rodriguez has a brand-new gig.
The former baseball star revealed his true calling via Instagram yesterday when he shared a video of himself stepping in as a backstage crew member, backup dancer and overall hype man for Jennifer Lopez as she prepared for her VMA performance.
In the video, A-Rod starts off on a high note. He does manual labor like it’s NBD and busts a move, but things take a turn when he gets called out for being late and then injures himself chair dancing. (Been there.)
He captioned his video montage, “Somehow, I went from performing on baseball’s greatest stage, Yankee Stadium, to ... working on the backstage crew?”
A-Rod went on to give props to the whole crew and wrote that he has “mad respect for what these guys do behind the scenes” but that he also hopes someone will notice his dancing skills so he can “somehow be closer to see @jlo kill it Monday at the @mtv #VMA Awards.”
He also took a moment to gush over his lady love, who is set to receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award tonight, and wrote, “The amount of sweat, focus, drive and determination she puts in everything she does is truly inspiring. She’s the embodiment of what [the award] represents. A lifetime of achievement, and she still reaches for the sky every single day.” He added the hashtags, #icon, #legend and #superstar, because duh.
There’s no doubt about it: A-Rod is the ultimate J.Lo fanboy.
