Calling All Throners: ‘Cleganebowl’ Is Definitely Happening, but Not How You’d Expect
Even though we’re still reeling from the Game of Thrones season finale, we were sorta underwhelmed by the lack of a Sandor “The Hound” Clegane vs. Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane showdown (aka “Cleganebowl”) we were led to expect. Sure, some few choice words were said (nay, growled), but nothing in the way of an actual duel. That is, until we realized the smack talk has already begun off-screen.
According to an interview last week with Entertainment Weekly, Hafþór Björnsson (aka The Mountain) declares he would “100 percent” beat the Hound in a fight by “smashing his head,” and that the fight would be “quick rather than something long... It would be a surprise to people.”
But Rory McCann (aka The Hound) corrected his onscreen bro a few days later, when he told the Huffington Post he’s already begun training for the showdown. “There’s absolutely no chance he’ll win... The Hound will win.”
How long will we have to wait to find out who will really win the epic face-off? Possibly until 2019 (although only the Three-Eyed Raven knows the real answer).
