When it comes to binge-worthy TV shows, Ryan Murphy never disappoints. (Loveyoumeanit, Shonda Rhimes.)
So when the American Horror Story co-creator announced that Connie Britton (aka our favorite TV show character of all-time, Tami Taylor from Friday Night Lights) is starring in his new procedural drama series, 9-1-1, we couldn’t contain our high-fives all around.
What’s more, Murphy released the show’s first-look trailer during last night’s game five of the World Series, giving hope to those of us who wondered if the game would ever end. The trailer begins with a 911 operator (Britton) explaining, “There are two types of emergencies. The first kind is the one we all have every day.” Cut to a first responder (Peter Krause) helping a woman who is being strangled by her pet snake.
Britton continues, “Then there’s the second kind of emergency. The kind that comes without warning.” Next we see a montage of clips showing first responders in action, including a policewoman (Angela Bassett) approaching a suspect with her gun drawn.
The People v. O. J. Simpson meets Law & Order: SVU with a splash of Friday Night Lights? In Murphy we trust.
9-1-1 is slated to premiere on Fox sometime in 2018.
