7 Things You Need to Buy Before Leaving the Hamptons
If you’re like us, you spent the better part of the summer lounging at the beach, feasting on seafood and popping in and out of stylish boutiques. But as we count down the last days of the season (boo), you’re going to want to nab a few pieces so you can take a bit of the beach life home with you. Here are seven quintessential Hamptons items to hunt down ASAP.
CANDLES FROM HAMPTONS HANDPOURED
Hamptons native Brittany Torres makes natural soy candles scented with plant-based fragrance oils. Each is named after a different area or iconic East End landmark (like Water Mill, a blend of apple, ylang ylang and white tea). Light one up for instant vacation feels, even when you’re miles from the nearest beach.
CHEESE FROM MECOX BAY DAIRY
You’ll be missing all that fresh-from-the-farm food once you return home. Stock up on a few wheels of creamy, raw-milk, local cheese from Mecox Dairy (we’re especially fans of the Atlantic Mist, the Bridgehampton farm’s take on Brie) for your next book club back in the city.
North Fork-based potter Chris Fanjul makes whimsical coffee mugs, vases and other items that are just waiting for a spot in your kitchen or at your office. (You may have seen some of the dishes at Greenport’s PawPaw restaurant pop-up.) Bring home a new favorite coffee mug or a vase for your desk at work.
LONG ISLAND WINE
There’s no reason you have to stop sipping your favorite Long Island wines once summer is over. Sign up for a wine club membership from Channing Daughters Winery and you’ll get two bottles of its newest releases delivered straight to your door six times a year.

ALPACA THROW FROM RUBY BEETS
Sag Harbor’s Ruby Beets is one of those stores you go into with the intention of buying a hostess gift…only to end up scooping up a few gorgeous home items for yourself. This time when you pop in, treat yourself to the incredibly soft Baby Alpaca Throw. It’ll bring some laid-back Hamptons style to apartment.
A COZY SWEATSHIRT FROM MONTAUK BREWING COMPANY
We hate to break it to you, but cooler temps are coming (even if it doesn’t feel like it). A cozy, super-soft Montauk Brewing Company sweatshirt will remind you of salty air and post-beach drinks when you’re curled up watching Netflix on your couch.
SKINCARE PRODUCTS FROM BEAUTYCOUNTER
West Coast-cool Beautycounter is one of our favorite pop-ups of the season. The brand is dedicated to getting safer skincare products into our hands (it keeps a list of more than 1,500 questionable or harmful chemicals, none of which you’ll find in its products). Stock up on goodies like Dew Skin tinted moisturizer, silky facial oils, pearly highlighters, bath products and more to keep that summer glow going as long as possible.
