No matter how irksome your relatives/in-laws can be, there’s nothing quite as comforting as walking in the door on Thanksgiving to the warm and cozy scent of turkey, stuffing and apple pie. Here, how to riff on that aroma all season long—whether you’ve got food in the oven or not.
What you need: Apple slices, orange peels, two cinnamon sticks and a tablespoon of cloves.
What you do: Fill a pot of water halfway, then drop the ingredients in. Bring it to your stovetop and let the combination simmer on low. In less than 30 minutes, the fragrant—and familiar—scent of the holidays will start to fill your home. (Just be sure you replenish water as needed to keep the aroma going strong.)
Mmmm…fall smells delicious. The Thanksgiving countdown is on.
