We await the social media posts of Stanley Tucci—as in the endlessly cool actor and famed home cook—with bated breath. (You too, right?) Like many other fans, when he revealed some top-secret info in a recent Instagram video, we were all ears. While he didn’t let us virtually shop his devastatingly chic closet or invite us to his place for dinner and negronis, he did reveal the color of his kitchen cabinets after dozens of his followers asked him to.
After Countless Requests, Stanley Tucci *Finally* Revealed the Color of His Kitchen
Tucci, 62, posted an Instagram clip with his long-awaited response, writing in the caption, “The answer to the question a lot of you have been asking for a long time…” In it, he can be seen wearing a pinstriped apron with a glass of white wine at the ready.
He starts by saying, “I’m just gonna steam some frozen peas, or sort of vaguely boil them, quickly for the kids. Then I’m going to make some peas with shallot, butter and all that sort of stuff as a side dish. And I’m serving them this nice ribeye steak. What am I supposed to say here?”
The person recording then reminds him that the people have been begging to know the color of his kitchen, to which he replies, “It’s Farrow & Ball Down Pipe. Sounds rude, doesn’t it? Anyway, that’s that.”
Farrow & Ball describes the color as “a dramatic lead gray” and a “daringly dark hue” with “definite blue undertones to it which deepen the complexity of the finish.” While the manufacturer recommends using Down Pipe as a backdrop for art or in hallways to boost the intensity of the entrance to your home, Tucci used it on his kitchen drawers and cabinets.
He may be a nonconformist on that front, but his space is actually pretty trendy, given our predictions for 2023. Two-tone kitchens like Tucci’s are totally of the moment, especially when it comes to greens and blues. In our very scientific research (aka after creeping on his Instagram), we found that Down Pipe does appear very blue in certain lighting, so he no doubt has his finger on the pulse.
The designer nerds in the comments went wild once he filled them in. “Of course, it’s Farrow & Ball. Why do you have such perfect Tucci taste?!” asked one. “Whoever fitted that top shelf needs a medal. About 100kg of Le Creuset on there!” wrote another. “Still want to know the brand of cooktop!! That downdraft was amazing!” wrote a third.
Yup, we found our people.
