New York City tap water is supposedly the best of the best, but can the $45 LifeStraw water filter make it taste even better? Or make it even purer?

On a brand new episode of Take My Money, Kate tests filtered water created by the LifeStraw Home Pitcher (which just so happens to be $10 off at the moment) against Poland Springs water, filtered refrigerator water and NYC tap water. The goal? To see which tastes the best in a blind taste test.

She also determines which is the purest according to its pH—yep, we’re getting scientific with this one (and definitely not trying to remember what we learned in middle school science). So, is the product really worth the $45?

All four glasses of water were placed inside a cardboard box. By using a paper straw, Kate tries all four options and rates them on a scale from one to ten.

Before doing the taste test, Kate explains how she considers herself a water connoisseur. “I’m not going to lie, I know the difference between Dasani [and] Poland Spring,” she says in the video.

Click the video above to see the results of the taste test and learn whether or not the LifeStraw water filter is truly worth the hype.
