Listen, we love a solid wood table as much as the next gal…until we accidentally drop our keys and it gets all scuffed up. Here’s an easy and surprising way to smooth out scratches and reclaim luster in minutes.
What you need: A handful of walnuts and a soft cloth.
What you do: Break a few shelled walnuts into pieces. Using firm pressure, rub the meat of the walnuts directly into any scratches. (You should feel the oil being released from them as you press down.) Repeat as needed until the surface is thoroughly coated in oil. Then grab the cloth and buff off the excess in small, circular motions.
Why it works: The oil from the nut settles into the scratches and camouflages them. In fact, walnut oil is frequently used as a finish on wooden utensils and bowls because it’s nontoxic, dries quickly and leaves a nice sheen. And there you have it in a nutshell.
