Your kiddo’s imagination is a thing of wonder (she continually refers to pineapples as spaceships and Dad’s briefcase as the “dragon’s lair”). So why not use your lazy Sunday as an opportunity to combine her love of fantasy with your desire to spruce up the backyard? Enter the fairy garden. These whimsical containers offer kids a mini planted play space for endless hours of make-believe (which, in turn, means endless hours for you to catch up on RHONY). Here’s how to make one.
What you’ll need: A planter, Miracle-Gro Potting Mix, fairy garden accessories of your choosing
Step 1: Choose a planter for the base of your fairy garden. (You can use just about anything. Just make sure it has holes for drainage.)
Step 2: Fill the planter with potting mix. Place your fairy house wherever your little heart desires.
Step 3: Arrange plants in the planter as you see fit. Once you’re happy with the design, it’s time to plant. Break up the root ball of each plant before inserting it into the soil.
Step 4: Decorate your new fairy garden with accessories.
Step 5: Thoroughly water your new fairy garden.
A final dusting of glitter is recommended. In fact, it’s encouraged.
