Trying to sell a home is not high on the fun list, but we just discovered an easy way to close the deal and get a bigger bang for your buck.
After surveying 50,000 homes sold across the country, real estate site Zillow reported that those with yellow kitchens sold for $1,360 more than estimated values. Even more surprising, homes with white kitchens sold for less than market rate. A staff economist thinks it’s because warm neutrals with a mass appeal indicate that a home was well cared for or that previous owners had an eye for design. White, on the other hand, can scare potential buyers away because they fear keeping it pristine.
So slap on a coat of Benjamin Moore “golden straw” and listen for the cha-ching.
