The Lazy Girl's Guide to Cleaning Your Apartment
7 easy tricks to keep your place sparkling all year long
Out with the old; in with the new. And the new 2016 you washes the dishes after every meal, scrubs the tub weekly and never, ever leaves leftover Thai food in the fridge for a month.
Well, maybe that’s 2017 you.
In the meantime, here are seven super-simple hacks to keep your apartment clean (or at least clean-ish) all year long.
MAKE YOUR BED WHILE YOU'RE STILL IN IT
Yep, it’s the very definition of lazy, but it works. Grab the top edges of the blankets, raise them like a parachute in gym class, slip out from under the sheets, tidy up and you’re good to go.
CLEAN YOUR SHOWER DOOR WITH A DRYER SHEET
It softens soap scum just like it softens your fabrics. Bonus points for recycling an old one.
SCRUB YOUR BATHTUB WITH A GRAPEFRUIT (DAMMIT)
Sprinkle on some salt and ta-da: an organic tub scrubber that actually works.
SPIFF UP YOUR TOILET WITH A MAGIC ERASER
Simply run this miracle sponge over discolored white surfaces, then wipe the whole thing down with a white paper towel.
REMOVE PET HAIR WITH A LINT ROLLER
Sweep it over your lamp shades, couch and chairs. Scotch tape also works in a pinch.
STORE FOLDED CLOTHES UPRIGHT
It’s called the KonMari method, people. It’s seriously space saving, and really simple once you get the hang of it.
USE A POST-IT TO DE-CRUMB YOUR KEYBOARD
Just slide the sticky part between the keys. It's way easier (and cheaper) than one of those weird air-duster thingies.
