The Heirloomist Turns Your Prized Possessions into Art
Meet the photographer who preserves your family treasures
Let’s face it--most of us barely have enough space for a dining table, let alone the contents of Grandma’s entire china cabinet. So what do you do when you’re given a priceless family heirloom but have nowhere to display it? Call the Heirloomist.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Bring your treasure (um, carefully) to the Heirloomist’s studio and founder Shana Novak will conduct a fancy photo shoot with the object until she’s snapped a photograph you both love. After the photo shoot, the image will be printed by hand on archival paper and framed if desired. In three weeks, the new work of art will be ready to hang on the wall.
WHAT IF THE HEIRLOOM IS SUPER FRAGILE?
If the idea of taking your prized item on the subway makes you too nervous, the Heirloomist will set up an impromptu photo studio in your apartment. And if you’re not lucky enough to live in the greatest city on earth (we’re biased, but hey), you can ship your items to the Heirloomist via insured FedEx or arrange for a house call.
WHAT IF I WANT TO PRESERVE SOMETHING WEIRD?
Awesome. The Heirloomist encourages you to be creative when choosing items to photograph. The weirdest thing a customer has ever preserved? A collection of solid-gold fillings. (Ew.)
