Want to get a jolt of enthusiasm about the way your home looks? Put down the glossy magazine and step away from the laptop, and instead visit one of these new home design boutiques. Each place is assembled under the loving eye of a local design expert who’s as passionate about the craft as you are about having a swoon-worthy--yet comfortable--home.

So make the trip to one of these five shops, because, in the words of the image-conscious Diana Vreeland, the eye has to travel.

Textured Comfort: Shoppe by Amber Interiors

We crushed on decorator Amber Lewis’s renovation of the Hancock Park inn The Lombardi House, and now we’re making the trek to Old Town Calabasas to visit her just-opened Shoppe by Amber Interiors, where she sells bedding, tabletop collections and enough floor pillows to turn anyone’s living room into a Bedouin lair.

23528 Calabasas Rd., Calabasas; 818-888-8083 or

Chic Tabletop: Hudson Grace

Hudson Grace is your first stop to set a dinner-party table that looks right out of a Nancy Meyers film. Here white porcelain pieces and a rainbow of linens are appealingly displayed against charcoal-painted walls. Need a quick gift? Arrange a fresh grab-and-go bouquet in a pitcher, and you're golden.

Brentwood Country Mart, 225 26th St., Santa Monica; 310-458-0200 or

Tomboy Styling: Martin & Brockett

Vintage landscape paintings, a burl-wood chest of drawers and Navajo pottery coexist happily in the mix of this store from decorator Jason Martin. We especially love the collection of vintage pendant lights twinkling overhead.

5449 W. Pico Blvd.; 323-879-9395 or

Classic Preppie: Nathan Turner American Style

Striped pillows, plaid pet beds and dip-dyed dust brooms are on offer at the Nathan Turner American Style pop-up, part of the new Village at Westfield Topanga. We’re cribbing styling tips, like the way Turner prettily drapes ticking fabric under a table to create a register counter.

6600 Topanga Canyon Blvd., Woodland Hills;

Industrial Luxe: Westin Mitchell

This DTLA workshop and showroom displays the wood- and metal-worker?s handsome handcrafted furniture. Check out statement pieces like his contoured steel, leather and walnut bar cart and a pendant lamp made of hand-torched links hung from a laser-cut steel frame.
