3 Chicago Places That Will Wrap Your Gifts for You
Let the pros handle it
Fact: You can whip up a baked-brie wreath like nobody’s business. But somehow you’re hopeless when it comes to curling ribbons with the edge of a scissor. So if you take one thing off your Santa-sized to-do list this season, go ahead and outsource the gift wrapping. These spots have gorgeous paper, lovely decorations and--most important--someone else’s hands to do the wrapping.
The Trendy Sparrow
A pop-up location of The Trendy Sparrow is open at Block 37 through January 15. Selling paper goods, art prints, coffee mugs and more, the twee spot has six “artisan gift wrap” options. Since you have serious stuff to do, you can drop off packages, do your thing and come back when it’s time to pick them up. Expect to pay about $5 a package (or $4 if the gift is from Trendy Sparrow).

The Wrap Bar
In the Gold Coast, the 900 Shops has a holiday pop-up called The Wrap Bar. Open to its shoppers today through Christmas Eve, the lounge is staffed by Make-a-Wish volunteers. Make a donation to the charity and they’ll wrap your packages up prettily. There are even phone chargers and a coat check. If you have wee ones in tow--or if you want an ironic new profile pic--go see Santa on level 3 while you wait.
900 N. Michigan Ave.; 312-915-3916 or shop900.com
We love visiting this stationery boutique all year, but during the holiday season our ribbon envy goes into overdrive. (Seriously, you won’t believe this amazingly artful stash.) Drop by the store with gifts from anywhere, and staffers will wrap them for about $5 a pop--plus the cost of paper and decorations. While the wrappers get down to business, pick out cute, Chicago-themed holiday cards for your squad.
