We turn to Reese Witherspoon for everything from book recommendations to ’90s-style outfit inspo. Today, it’s her mind-blowingly easy watermelon margarita recipe for one. It looks summery, simple and, most importantly, like a breeze to prepare, but does it taste as good as it looks? We tried it in our latest episode of Celeb Bites, a YouTube series where we attempt to cook and bake like the stars to find out if their recipes are worth the hype.
Is Reese Witherspoon’s Watermelon Margarita as Tasty as It Looks? We Tried It to Find Out
How to Make Reese Witherspoon’s Watermelon Margarita
This cocktail, which Witherspoon shared on Instagram back in June 2021, comes together in two minutes tops once you have all the ingredients ready to go. The main prep you’ll have to tackle is puréeing the watermelon, unless you can find some fresh melon already juiced at a farmers market or grocery store near you. In our opinion, puréeing a watermelon is much less of a project if you know how to cut it efficiently. We recommend cubing it for easy blending. (And if you don’t know the best way to slice a watermelon, we’ve got you covered.)

What to Pair with Reese Witherspoon’s Watermelon Margarita
1. Flank Steak Tacos with Cucumber Salsa
The sweetness and acidity of the cocktail will cut right through the fattiness of the meat. Meanwhile, the cilantro-packed cukes add more herb-infused refreshment to the meal.
2. Lime Chicken with Corn and Poblano Salad
This dish begs to be served alongside a pitcher of margs. The fruity bev is the perfect foil for salty, crisp, slightly spicy chicken thighs.
3. Summer Rolls
Tender shrimp + raw veggies + all the herbs = the most refreshing dinner of all time. Even the sweet chili sauce on the side will play nicely with watermelon.
4. Mexican Street Corn Dip
Nothing beats alfresco booze and bites with friends. This vegetarian appetizer is just the ticket, since it boasts all your favorite Mexican-inspired flavors and toppings, like crumbled cotija cheese, chopped cilantro and fresh lime. Feel free to grill the corn for extra smokiness.
5. Crispy Tofu Bánh Mì
This pairing may seem unconventional, but hear us out. The watermelon margarita will round out the fried tofu’s fatty, salty qualities. And the pickled veggies up the herbaceous ante while also adding a touch of vinegary zing to the meal.
