Your Ultimate Guide to the New York City Wine & Food Festival
The annual star-studded event dedicated to all things culinary—the Food Network & Cooking Channel New York City Wine & Food Festival presented by Capital One—descends on the city October 11 to 14. With a whopping 80 events over four days, it's NYC's biggest wine and food festival, bringing together chefs, TV personalities, mixologists and more, all in the name of fighting childhood hunger with charity partners No Kid Hungry® and the Food Bank For New York City.
This year's lineup is a foodie's dream come true: From a late-night dessert party to a celebration of game-changing women, these are the tastings, happy hours, meals and parties to have on your radar.
Eat & Drink (Obviously)
Consider this weekend a nonstop smorgasbord of delicious bites and cocktails. Sure beats Seamless on your couch, doesn't it?
All About Cake
Join PureWow (that's us!) and Christina Tosi—the dessert wizard of Milk Bar—and her pastry-chef pals for a late-night party filled with sweet treats plus wine, beer and spirits. (A brilliant pairing if there ever was one.) October 13 at 10 p.m.
What's aperitivo, you ask? Only the ultimate Italian-style happy hour. Younger star Debi Mazar and her chef husband, Gabriele Corcos, host an evening of creative cocktails, wine, charcuterie and more. October 12 at 6 p.m.
Fall is truffle season, which means now's your chance to indulge in the prized ingredient. At this tasting, hosted by "Foodgod" Jonathan Cheban, top chefs will shave, slice or grate the aromatic truffles over inventive dishes. October 12 at 7 p.m.
What, you thought the festival was all about food? OK, it is mostly about food, but it's also a great opportunity to mix and mingle with celebrity chefs, live performers, fellow food enthusiasts and even a few canine companions.
Fact: Brunch is 1,000 times more fabulous when it includes a cabaret floor show performed by Countess Luann de Lesseps and NYC's fiercest queens. (Mimosas and eggs benedicts from local hot spots are an added bonus.) October 13 at noon
Your dog Mochi loves to eat as much as you, so bring her to this pet-friendly happy hour hosted by Food Network's Katie Lee and her chihuahua Gus. You'll enjoy wine and tasty bites, while Nulo Pet Food provides treats for the pups. October 13 at 3 p.m.
Coca-Cola Backyard BBQ
Bring the whole family to this Sunday afternoon cookout in the "backyard" (it's a rooftop), hosted by Jean-Georges Vongerichten and "Salt Bae" Nusret Gökçe. Celebrated pitmasters will serve all manner of smoked and charred goodness. October 14 at 4 p.m.
Watch, Learn & Celebrate
Looking to boost your own skills in the kitchen or get inspired by some truly groundbreaking women? There are plenty of opportunities to expand your food knowledge (with plenty of snacks, of course).
Turning the Tables: A Gathering of Women in and Out of the Kitchen
Join activist Tarana Burke for a special event honoring female chefs, mixologists and other restaurant pros who are changing the industry—like Padma Lakshmi, Rachael Ray and Carla Hall. (Oh, and Martina McBride is the musical guest.) October 11 at 7 p.m.
Wish you could get cooking lessons from a celebrity chef? Well, you can: At NYCWFF's signature event, you'll get to sample dishes from the city's best restaurants, watch live culinary demos with celebrity chefs, chat with your fave cookbook authors (and get your copy signed) and much more. October 13 and 14 at noon
