9 Local Farms Offering Pick Up and Delivery to Keep Your Kitchen Fully Stocked
These are strange times, indeed. And while we can’t wait for things to return to normal, one surprising benefit of social distancing is that it’s given us more time to work on our cooking skills. Case in point: We finally tackled Ina Garten’s chicken Marbella recipe (it was totally delicious, of course). While we won’t be professional chefs anytime soon, we can still source fresh, seasonal ingredients while supporting our tireless local farmers. From wine and cheese to soup and toilet paper (yes, really), here are nine Hamptons farms offering pick up and delivery right now.
1. AMBER WAVES FARM
This educational farm owned by kick-ass women farmers Amanda Merrow and Katie Baldwin is open for orders, with pick up available on Tuesdays and Fridays. Each week choose from a mouthwatering selection of organic fruits and vegetables, cheeses, meats, breads and pantry items plus a rotating assortment of premade dishes like sweet potato and carrot soup or fresh blueberry muffins.
367 Main St., Amagansett; 631-267-5664 or amberwavesfarm.org
2. WÖLFFER ESTATE VINEYARDS
Can you imagine how wonderful it’s going to feel to sit outside with your friends and sip rosé once more? We will meet at the vineyards again but until then, Wölffer has bottles of wine, gin and cider for all your virtual happy hour needs. They’re offering free same-day local delivery from Southampton to Montauk on all orders over $50 placed before 2 p.m., as well as a handsfree wine drive-thru.
139 Sagg Rd., Sagaponack; 631-537-5106 or wolffer.com
3. GREEN THUMB ORGANIC FARM
While we might not be able to cook just like Ina, we can shop like her. Our lifestyle muse lists Green Thumb Organic as one of her favorite haunts and with their broad selection of fresh produce, it’s not hard to see why. The organic farm stand has everything from fruits and vegetables to pantry staples like coconut oil to meats and eggs available for pick up every day. They even sell seeds if you’re feeling inspired to create your own vegetable or flower patch.
829 Montauk Hwy. Water Mill; 631-726-1900 or greenthumborganicfarm.com
4. ROUND SWAMP FARM
Out of toilet paper? Round Swamp has you covered. Seriously, the farm known for its delicious fruit pies is selling essentials online for local delivery such as toilet paper, seltzer, OJ and pasta (plus other must-haves like jalapeño cheese dip, fresh vegetables and chicken salad). Sadly, they don’t have their pies or crab cakes available to purchase just yet.
184 Three Mile Harbor Rd., East Hampton; 631-324-4438 or roundswampfarm.com
5. BALSAM FARMS
Movie night with North Fork potato chips? Yes, please. Balsam Farms has the hookup on those chips as well as other pantry staples like Tate’s Chocolate Chip Cookies and homemade salsa. (Plus plenty of in-season produce and local meat and dairy). They’re offering free home delivery East of Shinnecock Canal for orders over $50.
662 Montauk Hwy., Montauk; 631-238-5119 or balsamfarms.com
6. MECOX BAY DAIRY
Creamy, raw-milk cheese pairs perfectly with a glass of Wölffer cider and a good book. Bridgehampton’s Mecox Dairy farm store has cheeses (we’re partial to the Atlantic Mist, their take on Brie) as well as beef, pork, turkey and milk available for call-ahead contact-free pickup. You can also get their farm-fresh products delivered straight to your door on Fridays for a $10 fee.
855 Mecox Rd., Bridgehampton; 631-537-0335 or mecoxbaydairy.com
7. MILK PAIL FARM
While their orchard is currently closed, you can still nosh on Milk Pail’s apple cider doughnuts. Shop their market online and arrange for curbside pickup (Wednesday to Monday) on apples, doughnuts, canned goods and more or have them delivered (Tuesdays and Fridays) for a $15 fee between Southampton to Amagansett.
1346 Montauk Hwy, Water Mill; 631-537-2565 or milk-pail.com
8. Provisions Natural Foods
The natural foods grocery works with local farmers and organic producers to offer a wide selection of health foods including fresh produce, meat, dairy and dinner for Fido, too. You can also stock up on natural products like beeswax candles and vitamins. Now offering delivery and curbside pick up.
9. QUAIL HILL FARM
Not that you’d ever get tired of taking walks around your yard but Quail Hill Farm is open for strolls through the orchards and up to the fields (remember to maintain social distancing and other health and safety guidelines from the CDC). After getting that fresh air, pick up eggs available on the honor system outside their shop.
