Heres What Giada De Laurentiis Cooks When Shes Feeling Lazy

Our cooking idol (and imaginary best friend) Giada De Laurentiis might know a thing or two about making elegant Italian food, but that doesn’t mean she’s above the fast, simple and delicious stuff. Case in point: She totally condones dumping her new line of jarred sauces straight into the pasta pot. So we asked her what she eats when she’s feeling really lazy, and she revealed her 20-minute foolproof pasta recipe. Read and learn. (And eat.)

What you need: A box of spaghetti, olive oil, Parmesan, lemons, basil, salt and pepper.

What you do: Add the spaghetti to boiling, salted water (it should taste like the sea). While it cooks to al dente, mix up your sauce: ⅔ cup olive oil, ⅔ cup grated Parmesan (don’t skimp!) and ½ cup fresh lemon juice. Drain the pasta, reserving 1 cup of cooking liquid to toss with the sauce. Season, garnish with basil and lemon zest and you’re done.

The results: A luscious, buttery sauce clings to toothsome, perfectly seasoned noodles. Basically, it’s a restaurant-quality meal that takes just 20 minutes to pull off in the comfort of your own home. Hey Giada, wanna come over for dinner?
